No time to waste, let’s get to it…

Google’s New AI Chatbot👏

While the hype for ChatGPT was pumping, Google was in the shadows cooking up Bard.

Before we look at Bard, there is exciting non-AI news about OpenAI that you can catch at the end of this newsletter.

Ok so what makes Bard special?

This Twitter thread breaks down the basics very well (Find my take underneath). Check it out here:

The three things I am most excited for are:

  1. Internet and Plug-ins

  2. Multiple Drafts

  3. SEO Companion

Bard uses real-time information and built-in plug-ins to make sure users are getting info that is up to date.

I will probably use Bard for fetching data online and summarizing internet articles.

I also like how it gives you multiple drafts. Seeing things three different ways is a good way to give the user choices.

In addition, SEO Companion is huge. Google understands the algorithm because they built it. I can use SEO Companion for this very newsletter.

It seems like Bard is good with code too, however ChatGPT already does this well. I will be using one or the other to help me on my coding journey.

Lastly, Bard is free to use. I cannot say if I like it better than ChatGPT yet as it will take time. But, you should go try it. It can’t hurt.

What I am Reading 📖

This week, I started The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene.

I posted a tweet about it a few days ago, and many people had a very positive reaction about the book.

Here are the first 3 rules and my thoughts:

1️⃣ Never Outshine the Master

By letting others outshine you, you remain in control, instead of being a victim of their insecurity.”

The objective of this book is to teach you to be more powerful. Whether this is right or wrong, the substance is true.

It’s crazy to me that most of the power comes from not doing certain things. Like remaining quiet so you don’t piss off your master.

2️⃣Never Put Too Much Trust in Friends, Learn How to Use Enemies

Greene’s point here is that friends will be quicker to turn on you, whereas enemies have something to prove.

This is probably only relevant in unique situations for most, as we aim to keep good friendships. I think its underlying message is just to watch your back.

3️⃣Conceal Your Intentions

By leaving your intentions in the dark, people will have no clue what you’re up to.

If your intentions are unknown, how could someone prepare a defense?

I think there is some power in being mysterious in the right setting such as business or sports.

The last exciting piece of news👇

Sam Altman going from AI → Crypto 🦾

Some of you may know Sam Altman as the CEO of OpenAI, or the company that made ChatGPT.

Sam is a forward-thinking mind who has great ideas about Artificial Intelligence and much more.

Before I get into his new venture, you can check out his awesome podcast with Lex Fridman here:

There are now talks of Altman having a cryptocurrency project called “Worldcoin” that is ready to be funded major money.

As per the Worldcoin website, this is the objective: “Worldcoin is building the world’s largest identity and financial network as a public utility, giving ownership to everyone.”

The part that is cool, but has some privacy concerns, is it will be distributed by taking a biometric scan of the recipient’s iris(eye).

This is called proof-of-personhood and will be making sure your government ID is verified.

In my opinion the premise is there, however I feel that Altman and team will have to address all privacy concerns prior to pushing this thing forward.

I think it’s more exciting that the AI guy is coming to blockchain to build a cryptocurrency.

In the end, I see these technologies as more powerful when being used together.
