The Power of Web 3 Communities
NFT NYC, IRL Meetups, Twitter Spaces, and more...
Last week I attended some events and meetups at NFT NYC.
Similar to others, I was absolutely floored by the experience.
This week I will take you through what I found.
Before we begin, I just want to remind you that with every subscription, we grow this email list a little bigger. If you enjoy my writing and want to support the Digging Deep newsletter, I encourage you to hit that subscribe button and share with a friend, thank you.
Most people don’t understand Web 3, and therefore like to bash it. Take my Dad for example. He is supportive of my grind to land a job at a Web 3 company, however is completely out of touch with what is actually happening. He believes people go to crypto and NFT’s to get rich quick, but fails to realize most of those people left after the bull market. After attending NFT NYC, I realized that this sentiment couldn’t be further from the truth. Here’s Why:
The Support System
If you participate in crypto Twitter and are actively trying to build, work, or invest in the space, you already have a support system. There is a network of people from all walks of life that are working toward a similar goal. At NFT NYC, I saw nothing but hard-working and passionate individuals. Everyone was eager to talk about Web 3 whereas most “work” events, people talk about everything other than work.
The two questions most frequently asked:
“What are you working on/towards?”
“How can I help you?”
The people of Web 3 are pretty aware of the fact that it is essential to grow together. It is a true case of the rising tide lifting all ships.
Sub-Communities
Under this umbrella of Web 3 are hundreds of smaller communities. Whether that be a crypto token, an NFT project, or a newsletter, all of these communities are important. A community that stood out to me in NYC is Azuki. The Azuki and Beanz holders stayed together, partied together, learned together, and shared a whole lot of love. The network that project has created is quite priceless. In my case, I got to attend the Claynosaurz event because I hold the project. When you see another holder IRL it is an instant connection. People you met an hour ago are the ones you start creating memories with. The people you will build aside after going back home.

There are some true entrepreneurs in the space making their own communities as well. I was able to go to the 1 % club meetup in Brooklyn, hosted by NFT GOD. NFT God took a newsletter that focuses on growth and turned it into a powerful group that strives to get better everyday in Web 3 and life in general. Side note, I went into the city alone, having never met any of these people and walked away with probably 100 new friends, builders, supporters, and work partners.

Twitter → IRL
Twitter is the true catalyst for these communities to compound. Meeting people IRL felt seamless because of our previous interactions on Twitter. Spaces is by far the biggest reason for this. Being able to talk these people live and daily is something not to be discounted. I host a weekly spaces with others and have managed to get some of the best people in the space on the show. The knowledge shared in an hour is unreal. The spaces is now it’s own community.

Web 3 feels like a special place to improve yourself. On Instagram and Tik Tok, I doom scroll. On Twitter, I learn things from the community, talk to great people, and build alongside others.
Check out some of the reactions post NFT NYC. These say it all:

To wrap up, there is nothing that can takeaway from the power of community in Web 3. We are building the future. So many people came to me to support my newsletter, job search, Twitter spaces, Web 3 threads, workout journey and more. I would have never had that anywhere else.
Next time you are thinking of attending a Web 3 event, do it.
