Unlocking Your Inner Creator
How to find creativity within
The truth is, everyone has a creative side.
It is inside of you, you just have to find it.
Have you ever wanted to create a product, start a podcast, write a newsletter, or be a stand-up comedian but don’t know where to get start?
This newsletter will take you to the key that unlocks your ideas.
Before we begin, I just want to remind you that with every subscription, we grow this email list a little bigger. If you enjoy my writing and want to support the Digging Deep newsletter, I encourage you to hit that subscribe button and share with a friend, thank you.

The GroundWork
The beauty of creation is that it comes in many forms. Podcaster, Joe Rogan, is able to create through meaningful conversation. Author, James Clear, is able to create through his writing. Coder, Lex Fridman, is able to create through software. There are no bounds in which you are required to play this game.
I am creating as I write to my subscribers in this current moment. However, that is a lot different from surfing, where I get to create a series of movements on the face of a wave. Know what game you are playing, then execute.
Taking Action
The thing that is often left out of unlocking creativity, is the fact that it demands taking some form of action. Ideas do not arise from sedentary behavior. Sitting on the couch will not give you the next breakthrough business idea. It could be as simple as reading an article online. The experience of reading alone could be enough. Experiencing shit builds your tool kit. You cannot build a house with no tools. Experience shit, then build with your new tools.
The War of Art
You know that feeling when you want to sit down and create then your whole body tells you no? Voluntary or not, what sounded like a good idea 5 minutes ago turns out to be less appealing than washing the dishes. This is what Steven Pressfield calls Resistance. Pressfield is the author of The War of Art. He says that it is not the actual writing that is hard, but more so the act of sitting down itself. This goes for any type of creation. It is hard to unlock your creativity when Resistance stands as an impenetrable wall in front of you.
In Pressfield’s mind, Resistance understands nothing but power. It is the outside force that keeps us from doing our work. He emphasizes that it is fueled by fear.
“Resistance has no strength of its own. Every ounce of juice it possesses comes from us. We feed it with power by our fear of it. Master that fear and we conquer Resistance.”
We spend so much time trying to come up with ideas to put out there all to be eaten alive by our own fear. Respect creation, control your fear, and defeat resistance to find your creativity.
Creation: A Personal Process
Creating is a personal process. You create whatever the fuck you want. If someone told you what you should create, it would diminish the meaning of the word.
My entire life I always had some ambition to create. It was almost a duty of mine to bring experiences and thoughts together to make something that I could show other people. When I was around 13, I made a Youtube Channel with one of my close friends strictly for fun. From ages 13-16 I was super into photography. The summer of the pandemic, me and a bunch of friends vlogged our surfing, snowboarding, and skateboarding sessions. After that I started a Tik Tok to talk about my love for rap music. Last year, I started my Web 3 Twitter which was much more career focused. Now, I sit here today writing my 13th newsletter, sharing my intellectual findings in pursuit of growing my skills, brand, and passion for learning. The creation process is deeply intimate and your finished product is always something more meaningful than predicted. The hardest part is hitting publish for the first time. So don’t hesitate, just do it.
Creation is the greatest form of expression. Remember, the best creative ideas come from within. From your own personal experiences. A symphony of knowledge and imagination. Some creativity will be loose, fun, impractical, and unsophisticated. On the other hand, it might be the most well-researched paper in medical history. You are playing a game where the ball is always in your court. Tap into you reserves of creativity and see what the hell you find. Oh, and watch out for that little Resistance monster.
